It is a course with a very practical approach. Being aware that teachers come to Italy to keep in touch with the language in a general way in addition to working in the classroom, the emphasis of the course is placed on developing awareness and sensitivity to the student's needs and also on the teacher’s general language awareness.
First week Morning: general Italian course or work in peer with a teacher trainer = 20 lessons from 9 am to 1 pm Afternoon: (mostly one-to-one) tuition on methodology, 2 lessons each afternoon = 10 lessons from 2 am to 4 am
Second week Teaching practice sessions through italian class observation and peer-teaching with a teacher trainer, 20 lessons from 9 am to 1 pm. The oral feedback from the tutorincludes 2 lessons in the afternoon each from 2 am to 3 am = 22 lessons. This is a key part of the course. Trainees observe a minimum of 20 hours of lessons taught by experienced teachers / teacher trainers. This is an opportunity to observe a range of teaching styles and techniques as well as a range of teaching contexts. • Further activities: afternoon lectures, excursions, guided visits to choose from on 2-3 days per week = 10/12 hours (over two weeks) • On the second week, trainees receive guidance from the tutors in planning their lessons, and after the lessons there is a feedback session, with oral feedback from the tutor. These may be a guided video observation = 2 lessons (in the afternoon) First and second week: afternoon lectures, excursions, guided visits to choose on 2-3 days per week in the frame of the Italian Language Course program = 10/12 hrs.
